Welcome to the 2008 Paige Ann Corrigan Memorial Lacrosse Jamboree!
June 7, 2008

We are glad you’re here to participate in, and enjoy a great day of bantam lacrosse.  This is the third annual Paige Ann Corrigan Memorial Lacrosse Jamboree.  After we lost Paige in March, 2005, we renamed and have played this event in her honor and memory.

Paige was a beloved math teacher at Northwest Catholic High School and was a devoted wife and mother of three boys, all of whom play lacrosse.  Sean is finishing his junior year at Simsbury High, after playing lacrosse for several years in our youth program.   Matt currently plays on the SYL Senior A team.  Both Sean and Matt are participating in today’s jamboree as referees.  Kyle is now at the SYL Junior level, playing on a team coached by his dad and Paige’s husband, Tom.  They are both here today as spectators.

Paige was an energetic, fun-loving athlete herself who was remarkably devoted to her family, education, and giving back to the various communities she was a part of.  It is Paige’s spirit and zest for life that we ask you to celebrate today by being a good sport, playing hard, and having fun.

To honor Paige in a tangible way, we have established the Paige Ann Corrigan Memorial Scholarship.  All net proceeds from jamboree entry fees and t-shirt sales fund the scholarship.  The scholarship winner will have demonstrated accomplishment in the following areas:

  • Contribution to the SHS lacrosse team and Simsbury ’s youth program
  • Grades
  • Community Service

It’s important that the graduating student-athlete who is awarded this scholarship annually is a well-rounded person who has achieved some level of success in lacrosse, school, and community – not that they are necessarily the best in any one of the areas.  The recipient will be someone who gives 100% in all areas of their lives and makes a difference.

This year’s scholarship winner was announced last week at halftime of the SHS boys Senior Day lacrosse game.  The winner this year is Reed Cummings.  Reed is a national Honor Society member, a frequent volunteer in town, and the starting goalie on the Boys Varsity team.  Reed is off to study engineering at Stevens Technical College in Hoboken, NJ – an outstanding learning institution and a division III lacrosse powerhouse.

Thank you for being here.  Have fun, play lax, and celebrate life!
