FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


What season is lacrosse played? Lacrosse is a Spring sport. The season typically begins in late March though mid-June. Check the SYL website for updates as the season gets closer.

How do I register my child for lacrosse? During the registration period, you can register on our website on the Register Online page. Typically registration is opened on/about December 1st and typically closes on/about January 31st.

How are the teams divided? The teams are divided by age. For more information, please go to the Girls/Boys Lacrosse page and click on the Team Specifics tab.

When are practices? Practice days vary for each age division. For more information, please go to the Girls/Boys Lacrosse Page and click on the Practice Days & Times tab.

What forms need to be completed in order for my child to play lacrosse? In order to play during the season, each player needs to have a completed and signed Consent to Treat Form, Code of Conduct Form, & Concussion Education Plan & Consent Form.

What Equipment does my child need to play lacrosse?  Lacrosse quipment is different for boys and girls lacrosse. Please go to the Girls Program page or the Boys Program page and selct the Equipment tab for specifics.

Where are away games? Primarily the games for both boys and girls are in Connecticut and some in Western Massachusetts. In addition, there are some teams (Founder's & Select) that may travel farther. Away games field locations are listed on the Home Menu on the "Away Directions" tab. The location information is also listed on the team schedule.

How do parents keep abreast of what's going on? Keep you eye on the SYL website. Also, when registering, amke sure you provide your email address to receive notifications about various league activities and from your child's team coach and manager. You may also optionally enter your cell phone number and provider to receive text messages about games & practices.

What does my registration fee go towards? We determine the registration fee by adding up all of our costs & looking at the number of participants. The fee covers referees, uniforms, team equipment (goalie equipment, goals, balls, cones), medical kits, AEDs, jamborees, tournaments, and uniform.

What is USA Lacrosse? USA Lacrosse is the governing body of men's & women's lacrosse. All players must become members of USA Lacrosse before registering for Simsbury Youth Lacrosse. Insurance is provided to players through U.S. Lacrosse registration.

Will I receive a uniform? Yes- each child will receive their own uniform (iincludes shorts & pinney) every year. The uniform is your to keep. Players should wear their uniform to practices & games.

What is Simsbury Youth Lacrosse's Refund Policy?  All fees are non-refundable. Exceptions to this policy may be requested to the President, Treasurer, or Division Director in special circumstances such as injury or relocation. Choosing not to play, or moving to another local program do not, in the view of SYL, qualify for a refund.
